Co-Director of the Center for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Rutgers University
Linda Stamato is a 1958 graduate of Nutley High School. One of six children, Stamato grew up on Highfield Lane. Stamato received her bachelor degree with honors in political science from Douglass College, Rutgers University. She also received a master’s degree in labor studies from Rutgers and earned a second master’s degree in American studies from Seton hall. She did postgraduate work in American Studies at New York University. In July of 2011, Stamato was selected as one of two individuals who will lead the search for the 20th president of Rutgers, State University of New Jersey.
Stamato is the co-director of the Center for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, and a member of the graduate faculty at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. She is the author of a number of articles on mediation and negotiation and lectures frequently on these subjects. She has served as a consultant to the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations and as Chairman of the Board of Governors at Rutgers University.
A highly regarded mediator and facilitator, Stamato has consulted for major public and corporate entities. She has facilitated and mediated cases involving education policy, land use issues, locations of affordable housing and other site specific matters.
