2017 Hall of Fame Inductee – Thomas Evans

Tom Evans, a pioneering leader in organizational learning strategy and development, is best known for his ground-breaking work at PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”).

Throughout his 38-year career with the firm, he served as an invaluable strategic partner in growing PwC’s top leadership. He began his career with PwC in 1977 as a Certified Public Accountant in the firm’s Assurance practice serving a range of global clients in both the public and private sector. He led the firm’s Middle Market sector as its Chief Operating Officer before becoming the Learning & Development Global Leader for PwC’s Advisory Services Practice. Each step in his career further ignited his passion for strategy and talent development.

A partner since 1998, he became PwC’s Chief Learning Officer (CLO) in 2003. ln his tenure with PwC, he positioned the Learning and Development (L&D) team as a trusted partner and integral driver in executing PwC’s business and human capital strategies. His relentless attention to business strategy, technology and talent bringing meaningful business impact has generated extraordinary results at PwC and received industry acclaim. By 2011, his CLO responsibilities expanded beyond United States borders when he was named the Development Leader for PwC West Cluster firms across North and South America. ln October 2014, he received Chief Learning Officer’s prestigious CLO of the year award, which nationally recognizes learning leaders who have made substantive and measurable change in business, vision, strategic alignment or leadership.

An honors graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University he earned a Bachelor of Science degree – concentration accounting in 1977.

Retired from PwC in 2015, he is currently a board advisor at Versed.com. He is a former advisory board member of the Center for Leadership and Ethics (COLE) – part of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and the Nutley Public Library’s Board of Trustees. He presently serves on his church’s Finance Committee and for over 13 years as his hometown’s Deputy Mayor and Board of Commissioners member overseeing the Revenue and Finance Department.

His legacy includes external team recognition receiving the No.1 spot in the Training Magazine’ s Top 125 from 2008 to 2010 before being inducted into the Top Hall of Fame in 2011, in addition to being a repeat Brandon Hall recipient for excellence in learning.

His three grown children, Mary Kate, husband Jared and grandson Jack, Tommy and wife Christina and Andrew.
