Cathy Benko was born in Nutley in 1958 and lived on Newark Avenue until she was 20 years old. She attended Holy Family School and graduated with honors from Nutley High School in 1976. While working at TransFreight she attended Ramapo College and graduated with high honors in 1985. She earned her MBA from Harvard Business School in 1989.

Benko is a self-made woman who has distinguished herself in the Global Business World. Benko is currently the Vice Chairman for Deloitte LLP, the largest professional services firm in the United States. She is responsible for driving the organization’s strategy to attract, develop and advance a highly skilled and increasingly diverse workforce.

Benko has been named a “Frontline Leader” by Consulting magazine and was the recipient of its inaugural Leadership Achievement Award for Women Leaders. The San Francisco Business Times has named her one of the “Most Influential Women in the Bay Area” for eight consecutive years. Benko is also the co-author of several Harvard Business Press books including the bestseller, Mass Career Customization: Aligning the Workplace with Today’s Nontraditional Workforce. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two children.
