Chairman & CEO, Wakefern Food Corporation

Thomas P. Infusino is Chairman and CEO of Wakefern Food Corporation, a retailer owned cooperative and the wholesale merchandising and distribution arm for the ShopRite Supermarkets located in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware.

Mr. Infusino is President of the Nutley Park ShopRite, Nutley, New Jersey. He has served on the Wakefern Board of Directors since 1967 and was elected Chairman and CEO in May 1971.

Still active and well known in Nutley, Mr. Infusino began his career as manager of a small Nutley meat market where he eventually became involved in a “cooperative food purchasing group of stores” that grew into the Wakefern Food Corporation. The Corporation not only pioneered the bulk purchase of foods in huge quantities, but developed warehousing and distribution techniques that have since been adopted by all major competitors. That “small Nutley meat market” is today the unofficial Wakefern flagship store, the Nutley Park ShopRite.

Mr. Infusino has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including:

The Prime Minister’s Medal, the highest civilian award given by the State of
Israel for humanitarianism.

The Lifeline Award given by the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation.

The creation in his name of the Infusino Prize in Cancer Causation & Epidemiology sponsored by The Lautenberg Center for General & Tumor Immunology.

Mr. Infusino is a member of the Board of Governors of the National Conference for Community and Justice. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Food Council and is a member of the Food Council Committee for Good Government.
Mr. Infusino and his wife, Estelle, reside in Nutley, New Jersey. They have three children, Jeff, David and Michael, and five grandchildren.
